About Charles,  Designer / Co-Owner

My family moved from New Jersey to Colorado in the 80’s. I spent most of my
time outdoors, exploring the mountains and eventually attended the Colorado
Institute of Art for graphic design.  During that time I met Carolyn and  later
finished a BFA with an emphasis in art history from Metropolitan State College of
Denver.  I began to show my paintings and drawings in various galleries while
working as a custom area rug designer at a showroom in the Denver Design
Center.  Working with some of the best interior designers and architects in
Colorado, many of my area rug designs are featured throughout prominent
homes in the Denver/ Boulder and ski resort communities of the Rocky Mountain
region.  In 2002 we moved to Connecticut where I received a Masters in Fine Art
from the University of Connecticut.  At the university my work turned to installation
and sound art with studies focused on conceptual and feminist art.  This
included an independent course in woven textile production.

From my studies and experiences I find that design and fine art are
interconnected and interdependent disciplines that inform one another.  My
disposition both conceptually and in practice to design is more related to an
artistic approach and method of communicating. This unique approach is one
reason that Carolyn and I decided to start Apeiron Design.

About Carolyn,  Creative Marketer / Business Developer / Co-Owner

Art, architecture and design have always been at the forefront of my interests.
This probably stems from my long time love of interesting and well designed
shoes.

In the early 90’s I worked administration support at the Denver Metro Convention
and Visitors Bureau while attending college for a marketing degree.  At that time
I met Charles and together we began camping and hiking throughout the
Colorado Rocky Mountains.  My first major experience with design came when I
started working as Communications Director at AIA Colorado.  With exposure to
the architects and architectural projects happening in the Denver area, I was
fortunate enough to become marketing director at a small architectural firm that
specialized in contemporary design.  At this firm many of the architects were
young and uninhibited in their exploration and discussions of new and
interesting design concepts.  From this experience I garnered a greater
appreciation for design, art and all the nuances that infuse them with every day
life.  That exploration continued as Charles and I moved east to Connecticut,
allowing us greater access to the social and cultural activities between New
York and Boston. After working two years as Marketing Manager at a Hartford law
firm, Charles finished his degree and we decided to reside in Philadelphia and
begin Apeiron Design.

Through those years I have been fortunate enough to travel and experience the
cultural attractions of places in Europe and South America.  When Charles and I
travel our agenda revolves around the art, architecture and cuisine of that
society.  Overall art and food are universal tools of education that bridge
communication barriers, help establish friendships and provide greater
understanding of any society.  Valuing the deep aspects that visual art and
design can provide is a part of my philosophy as the creative marketing and
business developer of Apeiron Design.
