fontainebleau
Fountainbleau can be described as a traditional
design with contemporary upgrades. Derived from
several sources of inspiration, the meandering vine
border through the field and large gaurdstripes are
a typical method of unifying a design. Foliage
motifs that blossom at the ends of the vine are an
interpretation based on the feel of vintage
wallpaper, quilt patterns and German/Dutch
ceramic designs. Taking each motif and breaking
the interior space into more geometric hard edged
patterns and using a small symmetrical pattern on
the outer and inner containment guards gives
Fountainbleau an old world folk art feel. Reinforcing
the overall intent of the design is a vibrant color
selection typical of ceramic and textile decoration of
early Americana.
